(Wigan Athletic moved from Springfield Park to the DW Stadium, which they share with Wigan Warriors Rugby League Club, for the start of the 1999/2000 season. Their first competitive match there was on 7th August 1999, with Wigan Athletic facing Scunthorpe United in a Division Two match. Simon Haworth scored twice, including the first competitive goal at the new stadium, with Wigan winning 3.0)
