WEMBLEY STADIUM
Wembley (London, HA9 0WS) opened in 2007, on the site of the original Wembley Stadium, which was demolished in 2002 and 2003. It is in the borough of Brent, North London, and is one of the most famous stadiums in the world.
It's famous for being the venue of the FA Cup Final, which was first played there in 1923. The "new" stadium also hosts American football, rugby league and rugby union. It can seat 90,000 people, making it the second largest in the UK. The distinctive "Wembley Arch" is 134 metres or 440 feet high, and has a span of just over 300 metres or 1,000 feet, making it the world’s longest single span roof. Because of its height, it has beacons to warn low flying planes.
